We started quite bright and were dominant with the ball keeping good possession and probing the opposition with Nwosu gaining a free kick early in the game. Tristan Knudsen’s resulting effort was saved well by the keeper.
It was all one-way traffic as we attacked with positivity, creativity and movement causing the opposition plenty of problems as on 12 mins across on the right from Tristan Knudsen were headed in by Immanuel Kinuthia (1-0).
On 16 mins, the opposition responded and tested our defence with a rare attack, which was well saved by Joe De Martino. We soon had the opposition on the back foot creating chances on 18 mins one on one which Immanuel kinuthia failed to convert and Paul Mcfarlane on 24 mins who shot wide from the edge of the box before Skyler Simmonds tapped in the 2nd from an assist from Paul Mcfarlane (2-0).
Witton rallied as the first half came to a close, forcing Joe De Matino to pull off another great save in the 34th minute to keep our lead. A lead which we then stretched with some beautiful link-up play, resulting in Immanuel Kinuthia driving into the box and scoring our third in the 36th minute (3-0).
The second half was very much the same as we continued our good play going forward, creating many opportunities with good, fluid build-up play. On 50 mins, some good work down the right by Matty Fossen and Matty Weiner set up Paul Mcfarlane to stroke the ball into the back of the net (4-0).
Witton responded quickly as an early through ball caught us out for their attacker to lob the ball over Duncan Curtis on 51 mins (4-1). Which was disappointing to say the least.
We finished the game very strongly and in total control creating chances, one coming from Chris Allen who headed over from a corner on 56 mins. Another from Chibuzo Nwosu (who was a constant threat to the opposition) going through on a 1-on-1, failing to hit the target from close range. Then, on 65 mins, smashing the ball onto the crossbar on 67 mins from 25 yds.
The total control continued as we wrapped up the game with Israel Kinyolo rising at the back post to bullet a header into the bottom corner on 68 mins. This was Izzy’s final game with RIASA as an undergraduate, and what a way to sign off!
We ended the game with Tristan Knudsen tapping in from good wing play to secure a 6-1 victory.
You can only beat what is in front of you, though still a pleasing performance with consistency in our play from start to finish.
Our target platform 5 games ago was to be unbeaten until the end of the season, which we have so far, now with 4 games to go it’s very doable.
