RIASA Derby #5. RIASA EAST V Bradford RIASA (8-12-17) (1-5)

Bradford RIASA

First Half:

We started the game off brightly, with some good build up play to get the ball into Dhanyamraju’s feet, but we were unable to get around and support him in the final third.

Bradford looked to play the diagonal ball a few times but both Jackson and Barbieri managed to defend against them.

A lovely bit of play from Barbieri, Austin, and Gibert as they worked the ball up the field to a long cross for Akwayena on the far left, who faked a shot and then came in on his right, which was then blocked and Bradford counter attacked.

This led to their first goal.

Shortly after, one of the Bradford players played a poor pass back to his GKp, and Akwayena managed to get on the end of it dribbled it in and placed it under the GKp.

East then found themselves under a lot of pressure as Bradford looked to regain the lead.

With much defending, East did well to hold off the attack from Bradford well into the first half, but late on in the half, Bradford scored 2 goals in quick succession which let us going into half time (1-3) down.

Second half:

We started off the second half gaining some possession, but we tried to go forward too early.

There is a time to restart and play back, and a time to build up again, but as a team we need to realise this.

Too many times Bradford intercepted passes in the final third and broke out on a counter attack.

East gave away a penalty, which was brilliantly saved by McManus to his bottom left corner.

Another opportunity arose later for Akwayena, who ran through from the left and beat a few defenders only to have his shot saved.

Full Time 1-5

Unfortunately, as a team we weren’t able to perform. We knew what we needed to correct during the game and what we needed to do to try and get back into it when it was 3-1 at half time, however we were not able to execute it. We played some good combinations in the final third at times, but it wasn’t enough. I know that the team will work hard in training when they get back after Christmas, and we will try and put our mistakes right.

First Half:
We started the game looking to get in front early and created a few decent chances, but nothing came of them.

We moved the ball really well and combined well in the attacking third.
Both teams were playing good football and looking to create chances but we were looking the most likely to score.
With 10 minutes played we got a well deserved goal, to take the lead, with Omar Damba finding the bottom corner after a good through ball from Dean Phillips.

We conceded though just a few minutes later after getting caught out of possession in our own half.

With not long to go before half time we scored a quickfire double in two minutes with Omar Damba scoring both for his hat-trick and Dean Phillips assisting both.

Half Time  (1-3)

Second half :
We started the second half as we did the first and pressed high up the pitch and scored after just 5 minutes with Omar Damba for his fourth goal and Dean Phillips for his fourth assist.

We were in full control of the game and looked like scoring every time we went forward, however we were awarded a penalty which we failed to convert.
We did score again though with Riley Harbour finishing after a great passage of play from the team.
