“RIASA Looks in Good Shape!” – Mark Ellis Reviews Semester 1 & Looks Ahead to 2020

All 4 of the RIASA teams competing in the Lancashire League are doing well, and although RIASA Leeds made a slow start they are now beginning to hit some great form.

Several of the derby games have been fantastic, and though there have been quite a few games against each other, these matches are great for the players’ development. Indeed some of the goals I have seen in these games have been amazing!

The U19s are also showing some great form, in what is a competitive league, with most I am sure aiming to move into the Lancashire League teams to join the ones already there.

The trip to China in November to take part in RIASA’s first international tournament was a resounding success and a great experience for everybody who took part. It created lifelong memories and is something RIASA hope to be able to repeat in the coming years.

With record numbers attending our annual recruitment event in Las Vegas on the 4th of January 2020, and an estimated 19 students graduating in May, RIASA looks in good shape as we get ready to celebrate our 10 year anniversary.

On a personal note, I would like to say goodbye and thank you to Dawn Craven who has recently left RIASA after 8.5 years to spend more time with family and friends.

I would also like to welcome Valerie Wiktorska, who comes to RIASA with a great resume, having just moved back into the Leeds area from London. She will be taking an operational role and will be a great addition to the existing team.

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all RIASA students, and parents a great Christmas and a Happy New Year in advance and I look forward to welcoming you all back in 2020.
