Richmond International’s V Balby Carr (10-01-18) (3-5)

First Half:

We began the game very slow ponderous and indecisive which put us on the back foot from the off.

As Balby Carr started on the front foot, they were quick to close us down and looked a very useful outfit.

They took the lead on 11 minutes from our own mistake in the box.

(0-1)

This followed closely by their 2nd and 3rd goals, as we struggled to cope with the opposition’s attacks.

(0-3)

We managed to create a couple of chances before halftime with good link up play from Rafael Castrejon who played Grant Austin through who’s shot was saved by their gkp,

As Half-time was approaching, they scored from a corner to make the score (0-4).

A stark contrast to the first half start as we came out with much more focus with a point to prove.

Straight from the off, we showed purpose, resulting in scoring early goals, one after 3 mins from Grant Austin closely followed by another from Cole Dunham, which put us back in the game.

(2-4)

Our intensity and work rate early in the 2nd half was very good to see as we continued to put pressure on the opposition goal.

On 55 mins, we took the score to (3-4) Rafael playing an excellent through ball grant austin through to score. As we pressed for an equaliser were they managed to score on 68 mins to make it (3-5)

Full Time (3-5)

On Reflection

After coming back from a 3 week break and and journey, the boys looked Fatigued and Jaded which resulted in a very disappointing first half display but showed great character and desire to respond to win the second half and play with so much more purpose,
