Maltby Started the first half better than we did and put us under early pressure, with a dangerous cross into the box which Trey Williams dealt with.
We took our first opportunity which came when Tyler Welch sprinted down the left and drove in the cross for Anthony Bynoe to side foot past their goalkeeper to score.
We were then put under pressure by Maltby as they pressed for an equalizer.
We did not help ourselves with a culmination of slow reactions to the 2nd ball, a lack of willingness to close the opposition down early and poor tracking of opponents, which we were duly punished with as Maltby got the equaliser on 34 mins.
We were fortunate for them not to have scored more.
Then, against the run of play with the first good reaction to pressure, the opposition (as they tried to play out from the back) let in Tyler Welch who intercepted the centre-back’s pass to round the goalkeeper to score on 40mins.
The first half came to a close at (1-2).
2nd Half formation 4-2-3-1
A much better start to the second half with a better understanding, a change of personnel (Fresh Legs) and shape which supported us better as we looked more solid defensively.
We played with better fluency in patches and created opportunities, through good work and tenacity from Anthony Bynoe, Tyler Pitcher, Tyler Welch and Kelton Stone all showing better cohesion, awareness and appreciation of each other.
We again finished the game stronger, and with better energy as we stubbornly denied Maltby to equalise through good game management and good defensive clearance from Devin Balsz, Zane Provenzano, Sam Byse and Ricky Jackson with 2 holding mids of Emmanuel Ogundare and Tyler Pitcher,.
This was rewarded in the 77 min as Tyler Pitcher played a great through ball for Kelton Stone to run through on goal to deservedly strike low past the goalkeeper to make the score (3-1) to wrap up the game.
Full Time (1-3)
